Physical and Chemical Properties1. EDTA has a wide range of coordination properties, and can form stable chelates with almost all metal ions. The advantages are: it provides the possibility of extensive determination of elements (better than acid-base and precipitation methods). Disadvantages: It is easy to interfere with various components-selectivity 2. The coordination ratio between EDTA and the formed M- EDTA is mostly 1: 13. Most chelates are charged, so they can dissolve in water and react quickly.
UseDisodium ethylenediaminetetraacetate is used as a color photosensitive material washing and processing bleaching fixer, and also as a water purifier, pH regulator, chelating agent, polyvalent chelating agent and coagulant. It is also used in textile printing and dyeing, detergent, metal coating and metallurgical industry.

Production method
1. Condensation of sodium chloroacetate with ethylenediamine, acidification to obtain ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid, and then neutralize with sodium hydroxide. Dissolve the obtained crude product in 10 times of water, add an equal volume of ethanol to precipitate disodium salt, and then filter and wash.
